About the position

We are seeking a temporary Human Resources Generalist to join our Human Resources team in the Washington D.C. office. This position has a hybrid in-office-remote working schedule and will be filled on a temporary basis through approximately March 31, 2025. The Human Resources Generalist performs cross-functional Human Resources assignments for professional staff including recruiting, compensation, performance management, and training development, facilitation, and/or coordination. The position serves as a resource to all firm personnel by responding to inquiries regarding Human Resources programs and/or firm policies and procedures. In the recruiting aspect, the Human Resources Generalist coordinates the full cycle for the professional staff recruitment processes in collaboration with the Human Resources Supervisor and Senior Human Resources Generalist. This includes collaborating with hiring managers to develop diverse recruitment strategies, utilizing various sources to advertise position vacancies, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and referring qualified applicants to the appropriate hiring manager. The role also involves maintaining and monitoring job requisitions in Workday, coordinating pre-employment testing, conflicts clearance, and background checks, and preparing routine correspondence such as non-selection letters and offer letters. In terms of compensation, the Generalist maintains current knowledge of labor market trends and collaborates with the Human Resources Supervisor and Assistant Director to recommend competitive salaries for new hires, transfers, and promotions. The position also serves as a contact regarding questions and requests for information regarding the firm's health and welfare benefits programs, collaborating with the Human Resources Supervisor in the administration of various leave programs and workers' compensation. The Generalist assists with the administration of the firm's annual performance review and interim performance check-in, including distributing information to managers, reviewing performance evaluations, and generating required reports. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with the Assistant Director and other HR personnel to plan and outline the professional development curriculum, developing and facilitating training programs, and maintaining the Human Resources Events Calendar throughout the planning and implementation stages of training programs. The Generalist also administers Workday for various HR department processes and participates in developing the department's annual business plan and budget, while researching human resources trends and best practices to synthesize findings into recommendations and action plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of four years directly related human resources experience.
  • Current knowledge of human resources practices, techniques, and labor/employment-related laws.
  • Knowledge of relevant firm computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Flexibility to adjust hours and work as necessary.
