About the position

The HR Generalist position at Medline Industries is an onsite role that operates Monday through Friday, with hours that can vary between 12 PM to 8:30 PM or 1 PM to 9:30 PM. Under general supervision, the HR Generalist is responsible for providing guidance and solutions on various human resources operational issues. This role involves partnering with management to facilitate the delivery of HR services and ensuring that the organization's current HR requirements are met while effectively implementing the HR strategy. The HR Generalist also serves as a primary contact for employees, addressing their questions regarding HR policies and procedures. In this role, the HR Generalist will develop positive employee relations initiatives and coach both employees and managers on the correct interpretation and administration of company HR policies. They will assist management in maintaining a positive employee relations environment by assessing the internal employee climate and counseling with managers to identify and implement actions that improve or maintain this environment. The HR Generalist will also partner with HR management to conduct local level investigations and resolve team member issues, conduct exit interviews, and provide feedback to management. Additionally, they will represent the company at unemployment hearings when necessary. The HR Generalist will act as a liaison between Talent Acquisition and management in the recruitment and selection of candidates, working closely with local managers to determine training needs. They will compile data and analyze past and current year training requirements, recommending training programs to support employee and management development. Ensuring an effective new employee onboarding process and maintaining internal consistency in job evaluations and compensation programs are also key responsibilities. The HR Generalist will assist local managers with salary and wage administration to ensure pay consistency and equity, and ensure that HR operations comply with federal, state, and local employment requirements, including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and Title VII. They will support affirmative action programs, audit and maintain current work authorizations, and assist with the leave of absence process in partnership with the corporate Leave of Absence team and management. Furthermore, the HR Generalist will assist managers with the administration of Worker's Compensation policies and procedures, taking a lead role in ensuring that employees are returned to work as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 2 years of HR Generalist experience demonstrating knowledge of HR practices, legal rules and regulations.
  • Experience applying knowledge of state employment laws to assess compliance issues.
  • Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates.

Nice-to-haves
