About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Sandy Park Development Center plays a crucial role in managing human resources functions and supporting the organization's mission to enhance the quality of life for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. This position involves partnering with management and staff to communicate HR policies, oversee employee relations, manage recruitment processes, and ensure compliance with various HR regulations. The HR Generalist will also be responsible for maintaining personnel records, coordinating employee evaluations, and facilitating benefits enrollment, all while fostering a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Manage employee relations concerns and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Oversee employee status changes including transfers and terminations, and communicate changes to the Bookkeeper.
  • Maintain accurate personnel record storage and conduct routine audits of employee files.
  • Ensure timely completion of 90-day reviews and annual evaluations, sending approved scores to payroll.
  • Enhance team relationships and retention through culture and engagement programs in collaboration with the Administrator.
  • Manage the recruitment process by creating job requisitions and screening applicants.
  • Coordinate the onboarding process for new employees and organize orientation programs.
  • Assist new full-time employees with group insurance enrollment and provide benefit information.
  • Coordinate requests for new job descriptions and revisions with the HR Manager.
  • Gather information regarding Worker's Compensation Claims and manage the process for injured employees.
  • Provide administrative oversight for leave of absence policies and ensure ADA compliance.
  • Facilitate the yearly open enrollment process for benefits in collaboration with HR Manager and Administrator.
  • Communicate the annual employee survey process and assist with action plans for improvement.
  • Manage the Wage Scale for Compliance and make recommendations regarding wage scale changes.
  • Attend department head meetings and participate in employee recognition events.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree required.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Human Resources required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employee relations, workplace investigations, discrimination, harassment, FMLA, ADA, and FLSA.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in HR or Business Administration preferred.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
