About the position

As a Human Resources Generalist at Northshore Rehabilitation Hospital, you will play a pivotal role in managing all aspects of the Human Resources department. This position requires close coordination with the Human Resources Director, the corporate Human Resources team, the payroll department, and the recruitment department. You will be part of a dedicated team of HR professionals, where your education and skills will be utilized to make a significant impact as a strategic partner in the organization. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and updating employee files, ensuring that all HR, Employee Health, Agency, and Contract Services records are accurate and complete. You will prepare and maintain new hire packets, ensuring that the new hire process and paperwork are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Compliance with federal and state statutes is crucial, and you will be responsible for maintaining postings, files, and procedures that adhere to these regulations. In addition to these tasks, you will manage incoming mail, screen correspondence, and refer materials requiring immediate attention to the appropriate department in the absence of the HR Manager or Director. You will also be responsible for accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll processing, coordinating with corporate payroll for support. Recruitment processes will be coordinated in compliance with the hospital's recruitment plans, and you will proactively address employee concerns, coordinating any necessary investigations with the HR Manager or Director. You will handle all worker's compensation claims in a timely manner, ensuring adherence to the company's Return to Work program, and process unemployment requests, FMLA, and Leave of Absences accurately and promptly. Confidentiality and professionalism are paramount when dealing with sensitive information, and you will be expected to maintain these standards at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Human Resources department in coordination with the Human Resources Director and corporate HR team.
  • Maintain and update employee files with accurate and complete information.
  • Prepare and maintain employee new hire packets and ensure timely completion of the new hire process.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state statutes regarding postings, files, and procedures.
  • Open and distribute all incoming mail, screening correspondence for immediate attention.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and timely with corporate payroll support.
  • Coordinate recruitment processes in compliance with hospital recruitment plans.
  • Address employee concerns proactively and coordinate investigations as necessary.
  • Process and maintain all worker's compensation claims in a timely manner.
  • Handle unemployment requests, FMLA, and Leave of Absences accurately and timely.
  • Ensure confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field, or a combination of education and experience required.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office suite and HR-related computer applications required.
  • Two or more years of experience in Human Resources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to a broad range of HR functions.
  • Previous HR experience in a healthcare facility with exposure to Joint Commission and CMS preferred.
  • Familiarity with benefit administration, basic HR functions, Payroll Administration, and state and federal employment laws.
  • Detail-oriented with expertise in problem solving, observation, group dynamics, and interpersonal relations.
