The Human Resources Generalist role is essential in supporting and implementing various human resource functions within the company. This position involves a wide range of responsibilities including the organization of employee files, recruitment processes, payroll functions, and maintaining employee updates. The HR Generalist will report directly to the Human Resource Manager and will assist in various programs or functions such as benefits administration, wage and salary administration, employee relations, compliance with equal employment opportunity (EEO) regulations, affirmative action, performance appraisals, training, and safety initiatives. Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate employee records, compiling and managing data for employee benefits administration, verifying billing for various employee benefits, administering aptitude tests for new recruits, monitoring attendance, and processing payroll adjustments. The HR Generalist will also be involved in developing recruitment advertisements, coordinating temporary and contract personnel hiring, and assisting with employee orientation and immigration-related issues. This role requires strong mathematical, language, and reasoning skills, as well as the ability to work under changing priorities and provide support to staff effectively. The HR Generalist will play a critical role in fostering a positive workplace culture and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Human Resource Manager and daily functions of the company.
  • Organize and maintain employee files and records.
  • Compile and maintain records for employee benefits administration.
  • Verify billing for medical, dental, life, STD, LTD, and 401(K) for accuracy.
  • Administer aptitude and interest tests for new recruits and current staff as needed.
  • Monitor attendance and review for absentee issues and disciplinary actions.
  • Compute wages and record data for payroll processing.
  • Process and distribute payroll adjustments, shortages, vacation pay, deductions, and bonuses.
  • Maintain employee absentee calendars.
  • Compile data from personnel records and prepare reports.
  • Develop and maintain advertisements and internal postings for recruitment.
  • Coordinate hiring of temporary and contract personnel.
  • Advise HR Manager of employee relation issues.
  • Update vendor website for new hires, employee changes, and terminations.
  • Prepare survey information relating to benefits, compensation, and policy.
  • Assist the HR Manager with the HR Training Program.
  • Conduct new employee orientation.
  • Assist with immigration-related issues.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Examine employee files to answer inquiries and provide information to authorized persons.
  • Assist with company activities/functions as a member of the social committee.
  • Assist with preparations and maintenance of employee HR website and Newsline.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 3+ years of related experience and/or training in human resources or a related field.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
  • 3+ years' experience in Ceridian Dayforce.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in employee relations and labor relations.
  • Knowledge of EEO compliance and affirmative action policies.
  • Familiarity with benefits administration and payroll processing.
