About the position

The Human Resources Generalist provides human resources leadership and consultation to management on the people-related matters that impact the business. This individual is a person of integrity and respect who maintains professionalism and confidentiality while building strong business partnerships with both employees and management. The role is essential in understanding talent needs, business direction, HR metrics and trends, and organizational strategy to identify appropriate organizational changes, create workforce plans, and meet business objectives. The Human Resources Generalist will maintain a thorough understanding of Martin's internal policies and procedures to provide guidance to employees and leaders. They will provide day-to-day coaching and guidance to supervisors and management on people-oriented matters, such as coaching, leadership expectations, career development, and disciplinary action. Additionally, they will read, analyze, and provide recommendations regarding changes in all federal, state, and local mandated regulations within the Human Resources disciplines. This position also involves developing and analyzing human resources trend data to make proactive recommendations on company-wide changes, including policy changes and benefit changes. The Generalist acts as a key change agent by leading successful implementations for new and changing policies and procedures, both within the HR department and company-wide. They will work with HR Analysts in the research, evaluation, and rollout of new modules that will enhance the functionality of HRIS Systems to meet business requirements. Furthermore, they will identify training gaps within the company and develop and conduct training to meet the needs, as well as maintain current training practices. The Generalist will enact Martin's benefit programs in accordance with company policy as well as local, state, and federal law, championing Martin's culture and leading discussions and problem-solving efforts to enhance employee engagement. They will audit human resources programs for adherence to federal, state, and local laws and work with other HR team members to help achieve department strategic goals and metrics. The role also requires defining and clearly documenting HR business processes and procedures, ensuring high customer satisfaction with diverse internal customers, and ensuring self-development through education, training, networking, and experience. Additionally, the Generalist will assist in the management of the company COVID protocols.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field;
  • 2 years of Human Resources experience preferred
  • Professional HR Certification (SHRM-CP or PHR) preferred
  • Strong understanding of HRIS database design, structure, functions, and processes and experience with database tools.
  • Experience in Kronos and Oracle Human Resource Information systems preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and verbal.
  • Sound critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle access to sensitive information.
