About the position

The Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in managing various HR functions that are essential for the smooth operation of the organization. This position is responsible for employee relations, compensation, performance management, training and onboarding, benefits administration, and recruiting. The HR Generalist is dedicated to delivering HR services that not only meet but exceed the needs of employees, thereby enabling business success. A key aspect of this role is ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and best practices in policy implementation. In this role, the HR Generalist supports leadership by providing expert HR advice and counsel, ensuring that all policies and guidelines are applied uniformly and fairly across the organization. This includes researching, developing, writing, and updating HR policies and procedures, as well as effectively communicating these to maintain organizational values. The HR Generalist also advises management on compliance with laws and regulations related to human resources, preparing and recommending updates to the Employee Handbook based on best practices. Additionally, the HR Generalist is responsible for developing and delivering training programs for managers and employees to meet federal and state requirements, such as sexual harassment training. The role involves coaching and consulting on various HR matters, including recruitment, performance management, employee development, and succession planning. The HR Generalist conducts compensation reviews, manages job evaluations, and oversees leave of absence and workers' compensation processes. This position may also involve backing up the Corporate Recruiter during high-volume hiring periods and participating in department projects as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support leadership by providing HR advice and counsel, ensuring uniform and fair application of policies.
  • Research, develop, write, and update HR policies and procedures.
  • Communicate and enforce HR policies to maintain organizational values.
  • Advise management on compliance with HR laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and recommend updates to the Employee Handbook based on best practices.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for managers and employees.
  • Provide coaching and consulting in recruitment, performance management, and employee development.
  • Conduct compensation reviews and manage job evaluations.
  • Oversee leave of absence and workers' compensation processes.
  • Assist in documenting performance and behavioral issues for fair promotion decisions.
  • Communicate benefits information to employees and develop wellness programs.
  • Back up the Corporate Recruiter during high-volume hiring periods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Human Resources related role.
  • Demonstrated success operating at a senior professional level in HR.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws.
  • Experience in employee relations and managing compensation programs.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to work independently with low error rates and maintain confidentiality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in environments with a high number of hourly employees (call center, manufacturing, health care, etc.).
  • Prior experience managing or implementing compensation programs.
  • SHRM and/or HRCI certification.
