About the position

Berry Global, Inc. is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Rochester Hills, MI. In this role, you will primarily assist the HR Manager across various functional areas of Human Resources. Your responsibilities will include leading and executing the full-cycle recruitment process for CDL A Truck drivers and Logistics team members, ensuring a positive candidate experience from sourcing and screening to interviewing and onboarding. You will also assist with I-9 preparation and develop strong relationships with driver candidates both prior to and after hiring. Creating an environment of positive employee relations and open communication is essential. You will actively participate in team meetings and assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies and procedures. Managing employee relations issues in collaboration with the HR Manager will be a key part of your role, as will investigating employee relation matters and providing guidance to employees and managers on best practices. Additionally, you will support supervisors and managers in developing job descriptions that align with operational strategies. Maintaining the HRIS system (Oracle HCM) will be part of your responsibilities, including managing records related to compensation, hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, and disciplinary actions. You will also prepare employee separation notices, conduct exit interviews, assess and track FMLA requests, and perform various administrative duties related to HR files and reports. Your role will also involve generating and evaluating reports concerning HR and recruitment metrics, along with performing other duties as assigned to support HR and recruitment functions.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources Generalist roles, preferably in the trucking industry.
  • Payroll experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Oracle HCM is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the trucking industry is preferred.
  • Ability to travel less than 5% a year for occasional team meetings or events.
