About the position

Within our Tracy, CA union manufacturing facility, we are seeking a highly qualified Human Resources Generalist to help grow, mentor, and support the 300+ employees at our Tracy, CA production facility. The Human Resources Generalist will support the day-to-day operations of the HR Department and provide advice, assistance, counseling, and follow-up on Company policies and procedures. This role will lead employee engagement teams and activities, supporting employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation. The HR Generalist will support the development and implementation of plant-level Human Resources policies and practices, managing the day-to-day execution of plant and corporate-level policies and strategies to ensure consistent application. This includes handling and resolving low-to-mid-level employee relation investigations and issues, escalating when necessary. The role also involves assisting with coordinating compliance and regulatory training for all employees and serving as the site subject matter expert on the company benefits program, providing day-to-day benefits administration services. Additionally, the HR Generalist will coordinate and conduct benefit orientation and other benefits training, including the annual benefits open enrollment process for employees. They will facilitate, monitor, and maintain plant leave of absence processes, and coordinate the location's recruiting efforts with business partners to ensure proper staffing levels are maintained within the plant. This includes the development of employment advertisements and/or working with third-party staffing agencies as needed. The HR Generalist will also recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions, coordinate and facilitate the orientation and onboarding process for new employees, and oversee and maintain HRIS, being a site subject matter expert on processes related to SAP, Kronos Timekeeping, Success Factors recruiting system, and other human resources technology. Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the orientation and onboarding process for new employees.
  • Oversee and maintain HRIS and be a site subject matter expert on HR technology processes.
  • Cross-train with other team members and assist as needed.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or other similar disciplines.
  • 1 to 2 years of professional experience in Human Resources.
  • Familiar with Human Resources fundamentals and best practices.
  • General knowledge of state and federal employment laws and practices.
  • Working knowledge of benefits and compensation programs.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Negotiating and problem resolution skills.
  • Willingness to support a 24-hour, 7-day food manufacturing facility.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-CP certification.
  • Human Resources professional experience in a food manufacturing facility.
  • Experience working in a union environment.
