About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Hamilton County is responsible for administering a wide range of human resource functions within the Human Resource Department. This role includes overseeing recruitment processes, managing personnel policies, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The position requires effective communication and organizational skills to support the county's workforce and maintain personnel records.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees hiring and recruitment process for various County positions, including interviewing and evaluating candidates.
  • Creates and posts recruitment advertisements, conducts pre-employment testing, and maintains application files.
  • Assists Benefits Specialists in conducting orientation for new personnel and explaining benefit plans.
  • Conducts exit interviews for terminated personnel and documents suggestions/complaints.
  • Provides assistance to elected officials and employees regarding personnel policies and regulations.
  • Maintains Affirmative Action Program and files EEO-4 report, ensuring compliance with EEO regulations.
  • Prepares various reports and correspondence as requested, including researching and compiling data.
  • Maintains and updates applicant and employee document files, ensuring confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree and 3-5 years of human resources generalist experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Hamilton County Employee Handbook, personnel policies, and benefit plans.
  • Working knowledge of applicable employment laws and regulations, including FLSA, EEOC, ADA, HIPAA, USERRA, and FMLA.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations and basic bookkeeping principles.
  • Ability to type with speed and accuracy and operate standard office equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with worker's compensation reports and safety committee meetings.
  • Familiarity with the Hamilton County Employee Handbook and its policies.
