About the position

We are looking for an entry level Human Resources Generalist to join our team and provide administrative and operational support to our Human Resources department. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to employee relations, recruitment, employee engagement, and process improvement for the Multifamily division at Friedman Real Estate. You will also have the chance to learn from experienced Human Resources professionals and contribute to Human Resources projects and initiatives. This is a hybrid role; three days in office and two days remote.

Responsibilities

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; assists with preparing and maintaining the employee handbook and the policies and procedures manual.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Conducts or acquires pre-employment screenings and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Facilitates Human Resources led trainings, new manager orientation, new employee orientation, documenting discipline, and behavioral based interviewing.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles onboarding and offboarding of properties within the multifamily division, which could include overnight travel.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Maintains HRIS system with accurate employee information, compiles necessary reports, and company organization charts as needed.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.
  • Participates in planning and executing companywide activities.
  • Participates in open enrollment for benefits companywide.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Human Resources, including employee relations.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Proficient in communicating in English and Spanish, preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR designation, preferred.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of HR concepts.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team oriented personality with commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with managers.
  • Ability to work independently, think proactive and resolve problems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, especially Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge and prior use of Paycom software(s) or similar HRIS systems required.
  • Experience within a multi-state environment and 400+ staff is a plus.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to travel.
