About the position

As a Human Resources Generalist, you will play a pivotal role in administering human resources policies and programs that balance employee advocacy with business operating needs. Your primary focus will be on promoting equity, fair treatment, and positive employee relations while ensuring compliance with state and federal employment laws. You will provide comprehensive HR support to a designated client group, focusing on the recruitment and retention of critical talent, continuous performance coaching and management, and proactive issue identification and resolution. Additionally, you will coach and develop leadership skills to enhance decision-making and communication within the organization. Your responsibilities will include building credible relationships with business leaders to facilitate better decision-making and enhance organizational effectiveness. You will ensure that company policies are administered fairly and consistently, effectively communicate necessary changes to policies and procedures, and perform various employee relations functions. This includes providing support and counseling regarding personnel conflicts, managing employee performance issues, and conducting investigations as necessary. You will also handle workers' compensation processes, coordinate leave of absence programs, and conduct health and welfare benefits meetings. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate HRIS database entries, payroll processing, and compliance audits. You will participate in HR committees to address employment challenges and assist in managing bonus plans and merit processes. Your contributions will be vital in the annual budget planning process and in recruiting talent from both internal and external sources. Overall, you will be expected to perform all other duties as requested, ensuring that the HR function supports the overall business objectives effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Administer company policies fairly and consistently throughout the area of responsibility.
  • Effectively communicate and execute necessary changes to policies and procedures.
  • Perform employee relations functions including support and counseling regarding personnel and job-related conflicts.
  • Manage employee performance issues and conduct employee-related investigations as necessary.
  • Handle workers' compensation and safety regulations processes.
  • Coordinate the administration of all Leave of Absence programs and processes.
  • Conduct health and welfare benefits open enrollment meetings and employee meetings.
  • Conduct employee and supervisor training on benefits, policies, and prevention of harassment and discrimination.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entries to the HRIS database and payroll for designated client group.
  • Perform audit and compliance functions as requested on various reports and payroll information.
  • Maintain employee records in compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Participate on various HR committees to resolve employment challenges as needed.
  • Assist in the management and execution of bonus plans and merit processes.
  • Assist in the annual budget planning process as needed.
  • Recruit and staff from internal and external sources as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of Human Resources Generalist experience.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and procedures.
  • Knowledge of staffing and employment practices.
  • Consultative and coaching skills.
  • Analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves
