About the position

Clinical Labs of Hawaii, a division of Sonic Healthcare USA, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Aiea Heights, Hawaii. This role is pivotal in providing comprehensive support to division staff across various human resource functions. The Human Resources Generalist will collaborate closely with the division HR team to enhance employee relations, manage data and metrics reporting, and partner with Talent Acquisition and Total Rewards Centers of Excellence (CoE). The position also involves acting as a back-up for onboarding processes, coordinating training initiatives, overseeing performance management, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion within the organization. In this role, you will engage with both division and central HR team members on key initiatives such as Engagement and Retention, Policy Alignment, and Talent Attraction & Acquisition. You will be responsible for managing and resolving complex employee relations issues, conducting thorough investigations, and providing counseling and support to employees during various stages of their employment. Your expertise will guide line management in performance management practices, including coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions. Additionally, you will consult with managers and supervisors to provide HR guidance and interpret policies effectively. Your role will also involve recommending process improvements, innovative solutions, and necessary policy changes to enhance operational efficiency. You will maintain a deep understanding of legal requirements related to employee management, thereby reducing legal risks and ensuring compliance with regulations. Furthermore, you will coordinate recruitment processes, manage requisition approvals, and facilitate the onboarding and orientation of new hires. Utilizing available metrics, you will make informed business recommendations and decisions, coordinate training programs, and serve as a liaison with third-party vendors and stakeholders. Ultimately, you will exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of Sonic Healthcare USA, contributing to a positive and inclusive workplace environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to division staff for all human resource related functions.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues and conduct effective investigations.
  • Handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management.
  • Consult with managers and supervisors in providing HR guidance and policy interpretation.
  • Recommend process/customer service improvements and policy changes.
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to employee management.
  • Coordinate recruitment processes, including managing requisition approvals and onboarding.
  • Use available metrics to make business recommendations and decisions.
  • Coordinate delivery of training and coaching programs and evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Serve as a key liaison with third parties/vendors and other stakeholders.
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate employee events.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field of study required.
  • Minimum six (6) years of Human Resources experience including a combination of Employee Relations, Training, Recruitment, and Compensation/Benefits.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgment calls.
  • Pleasant customer service orientation and professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrated experience using effective interpersonal skills, listening, diplomacy, and tact.
  • Advanced MS Office skills to include Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Workday is a plus.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM certification is a plus.
