About the position

As a Human Resources Generalist I at Mariner Finance, you will play a crucial role in supporting a diverse range of HR functions that are essential to the organization’s success. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about human resources and are eager to contribute to the development and management of HR policies and programs. You will be responsible for providing support and services in various areas, including performance management, employee relations, employee development, compensation, recruiting, engagement, and change management. Your role will involve interpreting and applying HR policies and procedures while aligning HR programs with the strategic and operational goals of the organization. In this position, you will act as a resource for approximately 500 employees and managers, coordinating with HR team members to provide guidance in all areas of HR. You will partner with employees and management to offer policy interpretation and guidance, perform regular reviews of policies, and recommend updates as necessary. Additionally, you will assist in managing HRIS data, including employee information and organizational setup, and oversee the annual performance evaluation process, providing guidance to all levels of management. Your responsibilities will also include approving and writing performance documents, conducting employee interviews, and providing documentation for investigations. You will communicate directly with employees and management regarding employment status decisions and administer compensation plans, recommending and approving employee compensation decisions such as promotions and merit increases. Furthermore, you will support employees and the HR department with benefits and FMLA/state leave programs, process and maintain records for approved leaves, and evaluate reports and decisions in relation to established goals. Your role will require you to maintain employee confidence and protect operations by keeping personnel data confidential, while also ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements. Overall, this position is integral to fostering a positive work environment and ensuring that HR practices align with the company’s mission and values. Responsibilities

  • Acts as a resource for approximately 500 employees and managers.
  • Coordinates with HR team members to provide guidance in all areas of HR.
  • Partners with employees and management to provide policy interpretation and guidance.
  • Performs regular review of policies and recommends updates and development as needed.
  • Assists in management of HRIS data, including employee information, organizational setup, and reporting.
  • Manages annual performance evaluation process and provides guidance to all levels of management.
  • Approves and writes performance documents, including performance improvement and coaching documentation.
  • Conducts employee interviews and reviews.
  • Provides documentation for investigations and supports HR Manager in employee relations matters.
  • Communicates directly with employees and management about employment status decisions.
  • Administers compensation plans.
  • Recommends and approves employee compensation decisions including promotions, demotions, merit increases, job offers, etc.
  • Supports employees and HR department with benefits and FMLA/state leave programs.
  • Processes and maintains records for approved leaves via third-party leave administration system.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.
  • Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects operations by keeping personnel data confidential.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by following policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
  • Working knowledge of HR laws and regulations, including but not limited to: protected leaves of absence, ADA, EEO, and other applicable federal and state employment laws.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and to work independently.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, flexibility, initiative, and commitment in an environment of rapid change.
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
  • HRIS experience.
