About the position

Mastronardi Produce, a leader in the commercial greenhouse industry in North America, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team at our Oneida, NY facility. This role is essential in supporting and managing employee relations, acting as a liaison between employees and management. In this position, the Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for a variety of tasks including interviewing job applicants, reviewing applications and resumes, and evaluating applicant skills to make recommendations regarding their qualifications. The role also involves conducting recruitment efforts to ensure full staffing for operational positions and developing relationships with employment agencies, universities, and other recruitment sources. Additionally, the Generalist will manage employee relations, organize company events, and administer employee benefits, serving as a liaison between employees and insurance providers. The Human Resources Generalist will also support Temporary Foreign Workers, assist with onboarding and documentation review, and provide advice and coaching on company policies and procedures. This position requires coordination of specific policy-related inquiries and the development and maintenance of human resource databases and filing systems. Monitoring the implementation of policies and ensuring compliance is also a key responsibility, along with assisting in the planning and execution of new company initiatives and policies. The Generalist will work closely with other HR team members to ensure a high quality of service and will perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Interview job applicants; review applications/resumes; evaluate applicant skills and make recommendations regarding applicants' qualification.
  • Conduct recruitment efforts and ensure full staffing for operations positions.
  • Develop and maintain relationship with employment agencies, universities and other recruitment sources.
  • Manage employee relations including acting as a liaison between employees and management.
  • Organize and participate in company events, town halls and training sessions.
  • Administer and explain benefits to employees and serve as liaison between employees and insurance.
  • Support Temporary Foreign workers/Onboarding/Documentation review etc.
  • Provide advice, assistance, coaching and follow-up on company policies, procedures and documentation.
  • Coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural inquiries.
  • Recommend, develop and maintain human resource databases, computer software systems and manual filing systems.
  • Monitor implementation of policies and oversee compliance.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of new company initiatives and policies.
  • Work in conjunction with other HR team members to ensure Quality of Service.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • University or College HR degree preferred.
  • Three years related HR work experience required.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources Disciplines, Employment Standards Act, Privacy and Human Rights.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent high level of confidentiality with employee and company information.
