About the position

The HR Generalist is responsible for managing the daily functions of the Human Resource department within a small, family-owned restaurant group. This role includes overseeing recruitment, payroll administration, employee relations, and compliance with employment laws. The HR Generalist will work closely with the CEO and Director of Finance to support the organization's growth and implement effective HR strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the recruitment and onboarding of qualified individuals.
  • Develop and implement training programs and employee recognition initiatives.
  • Administer payroll, manage employee benefits, and maintain HR documentation.
  • Handle employee relations, including disciplinary actions and conflict resolution.
  • Review and update HR policies to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Analyze trends in HR best practices and employment law.
  • Conduct audits of payroll and benefits programs and recommend improvements.
  • Coach management teams to enhance employee performance and maintain a positive culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of human resource experience.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
