About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Dairy Farmers of America will support HR programs and policies under the direction of an HR manager. This role involves administering various HR activities including recruitment, staffing, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, and compliance with affirmative action and equal employment opportunity regulations. The position requires maintaining personnel records, developing effective working relationships, and providing excellent customer service to employees and leadership teams.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the recruitment process for non-exempt and/or exempt positions.
  • Manage the onboarding process to ensure new employees have an excellent experience.
  • Process payroll for employees and maintain payroll records.
  • Provide administrative support for employee records and status change transactions.
  • Assist in preparing EEO/AAP reporting documents and generate HR reports.
  • Ensure employees receive appropriate information on benefits enrollment and coordinate wellness initiatives.
  • Manage employee leaves of absence processes and communicate status to leadership.
  • Coordinate employee communication regarding HR programs and announcements.
  • Provide advice and resources to managers and employees on HR policies and compliance.
  • Administer the learning management system (DairyU) and maintain training records.
  • Process HR-related invoices as appropriate.
  • Maintain confidentiality related to sensitive HR information.
  • Participate in special projects related to performance management and training.
  • Conduct research on HR best practices and assist in process development.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • 2 to 5 years of progressive generalist Human Resources experience.
  • Experience with HR information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Human Resources certifications preferred (e.g., SHRM, HRCI).
  • Working knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local HR and payroll requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HRIS systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Experience in a 24/7 operations environment.
