About the position

Mitsubishi Chemical Carbon Fiber and Composites (MCCFC) is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Sacramento, CA. This role is pivotal in facilitating the daily functions of the Human Resource responsibilities within the organization. The HR Generalist will be responsible for a variety of tasks including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The successful candidate will work closely with HR and site leadership to ensure smooth and efficient business operations support, creating a positive experience for all employees. As part of the HR team, the Generalist will review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This includes safety training, anti-harassment training, and professional licensure. The HR Generalist will also recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions, collaborating with departmental managers to understand the skills and competencies required for these roles. Additionally, the role involves implementing and facilitating new hire orientation and onboarding experiences, as well as communicating employee recognition and other applicable programs and initiatives. The HR Generalist will perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, leave management, disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, performance and talent management, and occupational health and safety. The position requires maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and reviewing policies and practices to ensure adherence to best practices. The HR Generalist will also maintain the integrity of the HRIS system and oversee payroll and benefits administration, ensuring that all processes are executed efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Implements and facilitates new hire orientation and onboarding experience.
  • Communicates employee recognition and other applicable programs and initiatives.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including compensation, benefits, and leave.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Human Resource Generalist.
  • Previous experience in the manufacturing industry required.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Certification (SPHR or PHR) is highly desirable but not required.
  • Previous experience in chemical manufacturing is preferred.
