About the position

The HR Generalist performs duties at the professional level in various functional areas including employee relations, employee communication, onboarding, benefits management, performance management, policy implementation, retention strategies, training, employment law compliance, and staffing selection. This position requires an extremely perceptive individual who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization while balancing employee goodwill and business needs. The role is based onsite in Salt Lake City, Utah, with occasional travel to California. The HR Generalist will partner with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards, and other governmental regulations. They will work closely with employees and managers to resolve issues, investigate claims of harassment or employee complaints of unfair work conditions, and ensure proper documentation of issues. Additionally, the HR Generalist will conduct exit interviews and focus groups, analyze data, and make recommendations for corrective actions and continuous improvements. They will also facilitate and provide training, including new employee orientation, and coach, counsel, and guide managers before executing employee disciplinary actions. The role includes managing and tracking employee disciplinary actions, performing benefit administration, and assisting with staffing and recruiting efforts, HRIS administration, compensation, performance management, and leave management as needed. The successful candidate will be responsible for complying with Hitachi Global Air Power's Code of Ethics and related policies, ensuring a safe workplace, and supporting the organization's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with employees and management to communicate various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other governmental regulations.
  • Work closely with employees and managers to resolve issues.
  • Investigate claims of harassment or employee complaints of unfair work conditions, ensuring proper documentation of issues.
  • Conduct exit interviews and focus groups, analyze data and make recommendations for corrective actions and continuous improvements.
  • Work with Hitachi Global Air Powers management team to implement recommended changes.
  • Facilitate and provide training (including new employee orientation) to employees as needed.
  • Coach, counsel and guide managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
  • Manage and track employee disciplinary actions as needed, ensuring adherence to HGAP policies and federal/state laws.
  • Perform benefit administration, including communicating benefit information to all employees.
  • Actively participate in annual open enrollment process.
  • Review benefits with employees and process enrollment, cancellation and changes as needed.
  • Assist with staffing and recruiting efforts, HRIS administration, compensation, performance management and leave management as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a human resource generalist role in a non-union manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification is a plus.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including an ability to listen effectively and to communicate information clearly to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to advise, challenge and influence at all levels.
  • Self-motivated and deadline-driven with a commitment to excellence.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
