As the Human Resource Generalist at Core-Mark, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the HR functions of our new Houston location. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about human resources and are eager to contribute to a safe and inclusive working environment. You will be responsible for performing HR-related duties at a professional level, collaborating closely with HR management to ensure that all HR processes are executed efficiently and effectively. Your primary focus will be on driving recruiting efforts, supporting safety initiatives, managing workers' compensation claims, and fostering positive employee relations. Additionally, you will oversee payroll processing, benefits administration, and training functions, ensuring compliance with HR regulations and best practices. In this role, you will support onboarding needs by facilitating weekly new hire orientations and processing biweekly payroll for approximately 300 employees across two locations. You will also maintain HRIS data, including processing new hires and status changes, and administer various HR plans and procedures related to pay, benefits, and leave. Addressing employee inquiries regarding company policies and procedures will be a key part of your responsibilities, as will conducting best practice surveys and assisting in the development and implementation of HR policies. You will provide employee relations support, including conducting investigations and offering legal support for active litigations. Regular audits on employee timekeeping records will be conducted to ensure compliance, and you will assist with responses to unemployment claims. Furthermore, you will coordinate employee training, awards, and other Core-Mark programs, while also providing additional support to HR processes across the organization. The ideal candidate for this position will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all levels within the organization. You should have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
