About the position

This position at Legrand is integral to the Human Resources team, responsible for a variety of HR initiatives and functions. The role encompasses employee relations, health and safety, recruitment and staffing, performance management, training, policy and procedure development, recordkeeping, compliance, and HRIS workflow administration. The HR professional will act as a positive advocate for the HR team and its programs, ensuring that all HR-related policies and procedures are communicated effectively throughout the organization. The individual will provide excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, assisting with inquiries related to employee relations, career development, benefits, performance, and company initiatives. As a member of the HR team, the individual will build and maintain effective relationships with employees and managers at all levels, ensuring that employee and business needs are met. The role requires acting as a liaison between manufacturing facilities and Corporate HR, facilitating communication regarding initiatives, programs, and concerns. The HR professional will also be responsible for benefits administration, including the management of medical, dental, life, and disability insurance programs, as well as coordinating the annual benefits open enrollment process. In addition to benefits administration, the role includes health and safety administration, where the individual will proactively manage workplace hazards and injuries, ensuring compliance with safety programs. Staffing and talent management responsibilities include processing new hires and terminations, conducting new employee orientations, and managing temporary employee placements. The HR professional will also coach supervisors and managers on employee relations issues, maintain accurate records, and respond to unemployment claims as necessary. Leadership and project management are key components of this role, as the individual will review and recommend changes to HR practices, assist in developing department goals, and participate in special projects. The position requires a strong understanding of HR practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a positive advocate for the Company's Human Resources team and related programs.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers regarding HR-related inquiries.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with employees and managers at all levels.
  • Serve as a liaison between manufacturing facilities and Corporate HR staff.
  • Administer benefits programs including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance.
  • Coordinate the annual benefits open enrollment process with Corporate HR.
  • Manage workplace hazards and report injuries in compliance with safety programs.
  • Process new hires, terminations, and change notices accurately.
  • Conduct new employee orientations and coordinate required training.
  • Manage temporary employee placement activities and vendor relationships.
  • Support the administration of an effective recruitment program.
  • Coach supervisors and managers on employee relations issues.
  • Maintain accurate employee relations notes, records, and logs.
  • Respond to unemployment claims and conduct exit interviews.
  • Analyze feedback trends and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Participate in committees and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience.
  • Proven knowledge of HR practices, principles, and applicable laws.
  • Experience with HRIS/Payroll system maintenance.
  • Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong decision-making skills within established guidelines.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Analytical ability to develop and maintain HR metrics.
  • Project management and planning skills with attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional or Senior Professional in Human Resources certification (PHR/SPHR and/or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP).
  • Safety team experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Multi-site/multi-state (international) experience.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English).
