About the position

The Human Resources Generalist will play a crucial role in administering human resources policies and programs, ensuring a balance between employee advocacy and the operational needs of the business. This position is responsible for promoting equity, fair treatment, and positive employee relations while ensuring compliance with state and federal employment laws. The HR Generalist will provide comprehensive HR support to a designated client group, focusing on the recruitment and retention of critical talent, continuous performance coaching and management, proactive issue identification and resolution, and coaching for effective leadership decision-making and communication skills. The role requires a deep understanding of business priorities to build credible relationships with business leaders, facilitating better decision-making and organizational effectiveness. In this position, the HR Generalist will assure that company policies are administered fairly and consistently across their area of responsibility. They will effectively communicate and execute necessary changes to policies and procedures, perform employee relations functions, and manage personnel-related conflicts. The HR Generalist will conduct employee-related investigations, handle workers' compensation processes, and coordinate the administration of Leave of Absence programs. They will also conduct health and welfare benefits open enrollment meetings and provide training for employees and supervisors on various HR topics, including benefits, policies, and harassment prevention. Additionally, the HR Generalist will ensure timely and accurate entries to the HRIS database and payroll for their designated client group, perform audits, maintain employee records, and assist in managing bonus plans and the annual budget planning process.

Responsibilities

  • Administer human resources policies and programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal employment laws.
  • Promote equity, fair treatment, and positive employee relations within the organization.
  • Provide comprehensive HR support to a designated client group in recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Conduct employee relations functions, including counseling and dispute resolution.
  • Perform employee-related investigations as necessary.
  • Handle workers' compensation processes and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate the administration of Leave of Absence programs and processes.
  • Conduct health and welfare benefits open enrollment meetings and employee training sessions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entries to the HRIS database and payroll for designated client group.
  • Perform audit and compliance functions as requested.
  • Maintain employee records in compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Participate in various HR committees to resolve employment challenges as needed.
  • Assist in the management and execution of bonus plans and merit processes.
  • Assist in the annual budget planning process as needed.
  • Recruit and staff from internal and external sources as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience as a Human Resources Generalist.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Demonstrated PC skills and proficiency in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and procedures.
  • Knowledge of staffing and employment practices.
  • Consultative and coaching skills.
  • Analytical skills.

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record preferred.
  • Certifications for Human Resource Professionals (PHR, SPHR) preferred.
