About the position

Dexter, a leading manufacturer in the trailer components industry, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist for its multi-plant manufacturing facility located in Albion, Indiana. This position plays a crucial role in administering various human resources plans and policies for all plant personnel, ensuring that the workforce is well-supported and compliant with regulations. The Human Resources Generalist will participate in developing departmental goals, objectives, and systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the HR function within the organization. The role involves administering the compensation program for plant personnel, monitoring the performance evaluation program, and performing benefits administration, which includes claims resolution, change reporting, and communicating benefit information to employees. The Human Resources Generalist will also maintain the affirmative action program, file the EEO-1 report annually, and keep other records and logs to conform to EEO regulations. Recruitment efforts for both exempt and nonexempt personnel will be a key responsibility, along with conducting new-employee orientations and managing the company organization charts and employee directory. In addition to these responsibilities, the Human Resources Generalist will assist in evaluating reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals, recommending new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve departmental efficiency. Maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment and administering FMLA benefits will also be part of the role. The Human Resources Generalist will act as a backup in the absence of the Human Resources Manager and perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Administers various human resources plans and policies for all plant personnel.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Administers compensation program for plant personnel; monitors performance evaluation program.
  • Performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees.
  • Maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 report annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, conducts new-employee orientations; writes and places advertisements.
  • Maintains company organization charts and employee directory.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Maintains Human Resources records and compiles reports from database.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Administration and tracking of FMLA benefits to ensure compliance.
  • Acts as back-up in the absence of Human Resources Manager.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
  • 3+ years of Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of principles and practices of personnel administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
