The HR Generalist plays a critical role in managing human resources-related tasks at a professional level, including employee relations, training, labor relations, workers' compensation, benefits, and recruiting. This role also supports administrative functions such as correspondence generation, record keeping, file maintenance, and HRIS entry. The HR Generalist collaborates with employees and management to communicate HR policies, procedures, laws, standards, and regulations. They act as a liaison for workers' compensation, reviewing claims and supporting the HR process for addressing WC-related issues, ensuring timely processing, and evaluating accident reports for accuracy and completeness. In addition, the HR Generalist conducts new-employee orientations to ensure understanding of company policies, benefits plans, and enrollment provisions. They provide guidance on employee relations, compensation, EEO compliance, policies, procedures, disability programs (STD, LTD, FMLA, ADA), federal and state employment laws, and personnel actions. Enhancing employee understanding of benefits programs is also a key responsibility, which includes regularly communicating and counseling employees and dependents, resolving complaints related to health and welfare plans, and processing necessary documents through payroll and insurance providers. The HR Generalist serves as the COBRA administrator and manages recruitment for all exempt, nonexempt, and temporary positions, including writing and placing advertisements, screening and interviewing candidates, conducting reference checks, extending job offers, and conducting exit interviews. Furthermore, the HR Generalist identifies, recommends, and conducts training to help employees and management acquire necessary skills, working with managers to determine staff development and training needs, and monitoring results to ensure alignment with company goals. They assist with the preparation of the annual affirmative action plan, evaluate department initiatives against established goals, and recommend new approaches to improve efficiency and services. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws is crucial, as is coordinating and assisting with ACA and ERISA benefits reporting requirements. The HR Generalist also performs outreach to community sources as needed and processes company payroll, ensuring compliance with taxes, withholdings, and regulations. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
