About the position

The Human Resources Generalist is a junior-level role responsible for supporting and coordinating day-to-day HR operations at the Massachusetts School Building Authority. This position involves managing various HR tasks, including recruitment, training coordination, benefits administration, and HR communications, ensuring compliance with employment laws and fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and implement various aspects of the recruitment process, including posting jobs and screening applicants.
  • Maintain accurate records of job openings and applications in the applicant tracking system.
  • Onboard new hires and process new hire paperwork, providing an overview of policies and benefits.
  • Assist in the collection and analysis of HR metrics to identify trends in recruitment and turnover.
  • Coordinate and deliver training programs for staff, maintaining records of attendance and completion.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR department, including performance management and employee engagement activities.
  • Stay current with HR laws and trends, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Produce monthly HR newsletters and support employee recognition programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field, or five years of equivalent work experience.
  • Three years of related office-based administrative work experience.
  • Three years of HR Generalist experience preferred.
  • Experience applying knowledge of state employment laws to assess compliance issues.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and related program software.

Nice-to-haves

  • SHRM-CP/PHR or SHRM-SCP/SPHR or HRCI PHR/SPHR certification desirable.
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems such as Lever.
  • Performance Management System experience preferred.
