Elevate Care Northbrook is seeking an experienced HR generalist to manage the HR and Payroll functions at our facility in Northbrook. Prior HR experience in a skilled nursing facility is extremely important. The primary responsibility of the HR Generalist is to direct the Human Resources department in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, as directed by the Administrator. This role ensures that quality personnel are interviewed, trained, and employed. The HR Generalist will assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the HR department. Key responsibilities include reviewing all requests from department directors for new or replacement personnel, filling requests as approved, and arranging interviews and appointments. The HR Generalist will check applications and references of prospective employees and arrange for interviews with department directors as required or requested. Additionally, maintaining an adequate personnel record filing system that meets the needs of the facility and complies with current employment practices is crucial. The HR Generalist will also ensure that hiring and discharge procedures comply with established procedures and policies, conduct employee background checks, orient new personnel to the facility, and explain personnel policies, procedures, payroll procedures, safety procedures, grievance procedures, etc. Furthermore, the HR Generalist will counsel and discipline personnel as requested or necessary, maintain a good employee relations program, and ensure the confidentiality of all employee information while managing payroll and Workers' Compensation claims.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Human Resources department in accordance with applicable standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Assist in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the HR department.

  • Maintain confidentiality of all employee information.
  • Maintain and process payroll.
  • Manage Workers' Compensation claims.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Prior payroll experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare worker regulations.
  • Prior union experience is a plus.
  • Experience in managing Workers' Compensation claims.
  • Willingness to continuously develop the role.
