About the position

A local leader in food manufacturing is looking to add a Human Resources Generalist to its expanding team. This individual will handle daily HR tasks such as recruitment, employee relations, benefits coordination, and ensuring compliance with company policies. The role also involves collaborating with different departments to support various HR initiatives and business objectives. The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for managing employee benefits, guiding new hires through enrollment, and ensuring all staff complete the process during open enrollment periods. Additionally, the position requires preparing and submitting required compliance reports, including EEO-1, 1095 forms, and 401k audits. The Generalist will administer FMLA and other leave programs, work with the Operations team to assist with work-related injury claims and processing, and oversee the company's annual audits. The role also includes reporting and presenting HR metrics to the leadership team as necessary, ensuring compliance with training and certification requirements, including safety protocols, anti-harassment courses, and professional development. The Human Resources Generalist will lead the recruitment and interview process in collaboration with department managers to identify and hire qualified candidates. Inputting employee information such as garnishments, pay adjustments, and position changes into the HRIS system is also a key responsibility. Conducting background checks and verifying work eligibility for new employees, coordinating onboarding and employee recognition programs, and handling day-to-day HR tasks, including compensation management, benefits, employee discipline, talent management, and workplace safety, are essential functions of this role. The Generalist will respond to employee and manager questions, escalating complex issues to appropriate staff when needed, participate in disciplinary actions, investigations, and termination meetings, and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws. Staying informed on HR best practices, regulatory changes, and industry trends is crucial for success in this position.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • At least 5 years of HR management experience preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred
  • HR certification such as SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with employment laws and regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS/talent management systems
