About the position

The Human Resources Generalist will enhance and assist the Human Resources function, supporting the company's rapid growth and expansion in HR and related functions. This role will evaluate the company's existing policies and practices and work with the HR Contractor to define, develop and implement scalable, elevated HR strategies to support all employees and managers within all lines of the business. The Manager of HR will work to continue building connectivity between Human Resources, talent acquisition/development, executive leadership and all other business units to support ongoing synergy within the company. They will be both a partner and an individual contributor to develop a plan that will reflect the business objectives of the organization and growth benchmarks. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in all aspects of HR including benefits, payroll, employee relations, diversity, equity & inclusion, acquisitions, property & casualty, Evolution, policy development, acquisition due diligence and onboarding, as well as all other related HR responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Review, develop and implement HR updates and policies. Provide guidance on policies and workplace best practices to management and employees.
  • Partner with business leaders to develop, manage and communicate plans and procedures to remain current and in compliance with various Human Resources policies and practices, employment laws, standards and regulations.
  • Partner with the leadership team to effectively maintain talent development strategies and meet recruitment goals. Develop Talent Acquisition team to cover all hiring needs.
  • Proactively search for passive and active candidates through networking, social media and other strategies to identify the top candidates to fill open strategic and office positions.
  • Serve as the liaison between the company and the candidates by handling e-mails, phone calls, questions and other details before and after interviews.
  • Draft and deliver job offers to applicants who pass screening and interview processes and are approved by management.
  • Provide candidates with the offer letter, benefits outline/employee handbook and travel policy, discussing the benefits and reiterating requirements and details of the position.
  • Continually monitor job market for pay equity and best practices. Ensure job descriptions and titles align with current market trends.
  • Support and encourage a culture that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. Build culture by hiring candidates who add to the company and bring new ideas and energy to the organization. Participate as an integral part of the company culture committee, spearheading ideas and executing them with the team.
  • Oversee all employee transition activities including on-boarding and off-boarding, promotions, transfers and other employee life-cycle related activities.
  • Address employee concerns when they arise and resolve both simple and complex employee relations issues, using solid business judgment. Ability to discern when to escalate issues to management for advice and guidance.
  • Direct the design and administration of benefit programs, including negotiations with insurance brokers, evaluation of benefit programs and monitoring employee satisfaction with benefits.
  • Oversee compliance with all applicable laws and regulations concerning fair employment practices, leaves of absences, employee health and safety, employee relations, other compliance related programs; remain aware of evolving government influences on management policies and practices and plan accordingly for changes in regulations.
  • Respond to complaints of discrimination, harassment and retaliation in violation of agency's policy and conduct related investigations, including recommendations for action to be taken, as appropriate.
  • Draft, implement and update relevant employment policies, in consultation with leadership teams and legal requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive responsibility in HR Generalist work and 1-2 years of HR Leadership management experience.
  • Extensive experience working within automated payroll and HR platforms.
  • Prior experience with onboarding of new employees.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in policy development, documentation, training and implementation.
  • Experience in developing and implementing an employee performance policy.
  • Experience in benefits and compensation management.
  • Knowledge and experience with the employment laws in the US.
  • Experience in all facets of human resources including recruiting, employee relations, legal compliance, coaching and development.
  • Professional presentation and verbal and written communication/instruction skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, clients and staff.
  • Ability to work under pressure and perform multifaceted projects in conjunction with daily activities.
  • Excellent organization, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-starter, excellent attention to detail, active listener and completes tasks independently and efficiently with limited direction.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Calendar.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Willing to embrace change, redirection and remain adaptable.
