About the position

As a Human Resources Generalist at Matco Tools, you will play a pivotal role in supporting various HR functions that are essential to the organization. Your primary responsibilities will include driving recruiting and employment activities to ensure the timely placement of qualified associates across various positions, including exempt, non-exempt, hourly, and temporary roles. You will be involved in day-to-day associate relations, which encompasses problem-solving, counseling, coaching, and fact-finding to address employee concerns effectively. In addition to recruitment and associate relations, you will administer and monitor worker's compensation, short-term disability, and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) claims. Your role will also require you to perform investigations on any policy violation claims, ensuring that all matters are handled with due diligence and in accordance with company policies. You will provide internal consulting services regarding the interpretation and application of HR policies and processes, actively participating in the development of best practices and the implementation of policies as necessary. Managing the hourly performance review process will be another key responsibility, along with helping to develop and support programs, policies, procedures, and controls related to HR metrics. You will be tasked with reporting on HR metrics, headcount, and other various reporting requirements, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and representing the company in related litigation when necessary. Staying current on local and federal employment law will be crucial to your success in this role, as you will be expected to properly execute corporate policies and HR programs.

Responsibilities

  • Drive recruiting and employment activities to ensure timely placement of qualified associates for exempt, non-exempt, hourly, and temporary positions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required OR high school diploma with additional experience in employee relations
  • Minimum 3 years of HR generalist experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient in recruiting and interviewing skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and teamwork
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • PHR certification preferred
