About the position

The Human Resources Generalist will run the daily functions of the People and Talent (HR) department, including hiring and interviewing staff, assisting with administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The Generalist will work closely with the department to ensure that up-to-date policies comply with all relevant laws. This role is crucial in maintaining a productive and compliant workplace, ensuring that all HR functions align with the company's strategic goals. The Generalist reports to the Senior Vice President of People and Talent, providing support and guidance on various HR initiatives and projects. In this position, the Generalist will be responsible for reviewing, tracking, and documenting compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, aptitude exams, and certifications. The Generalist will also recruit for corporate employees' interviews and facilitate hiring qualified applicants for open positions, collaborating with departmental managers to understand the skills and competencies required for openings. The role involves performing routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. The Generalist will handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Additionally, the Generalist will attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. The Generalist will maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. They will support various People and Talent projects and initiatives as needed to enhance overall People and Talent functions, performing other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the HR department.

Responsibilities

  • Support various People and Talent projects and initiatives as needed to enhance overall People and Talent functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in an HR role, preferably with a focus on safety and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols, WC, Auto, and GL claims management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Workday-related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • PHR or SHRM certification is a plus.
