About the position

Friends of the Israel Defense Forces (FIDF) is a humanitarian nonprofit organization dedicated to providing life-changing support for the courageous young men and women of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The Human Resources Generalist will play a crucial role in supporting the Vice President of People and Culture by providing comprehensive administrative support and assisting with various human resources initiatives. This position is integral to promoting a culture that is recognized as a 'best place to work' and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures. The HR Generalist will manage the onboarding and off-boarding processes for new hires, support recruitment efforts, and prepare training materials. Additionally, this role involves event planning, contributing to the culture committee, and addressing routine HR inquiries. The HR Generalist will be responsible for managing the recruitment process, including candidate coordination and performance management. They will identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities for staff, ensuring that training sessions are well-prepared and effectively communicated. The role also includes promoting employee relations and culture initiatives, working collaboratively with all departments to enhance organizational culture and engagement. This includes organizing events, facilitating meetings, and assisting with employee relations documentation and exit interviews. In terms of HR administration, the Generalist will handle employment-related inquiries, maintain HR files, and generate necessary reports. Compliance is a key aspect of this role, as the HR Generalist will develop and update the HR handbook, conduct audits, and ensure adherence to employment laws and regulations. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple tasks, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive information. Overall, the HR Generalist will contribute to the achievement of departmental goals and promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the new hire onboarding, new hire orientation, and off-boarding processes.
  • Assist with all cycles of the recruitment process and candidate coordination.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities for staff.
  • Plan and prepare materials for training sessions and presentations.
  • Coordinate the performance management cycles, including communication and reporting.
  • Promote and implement 'best place to work' culture initiatives.
  • Work with departments on organizational culture and engagement initiatives.
  • Organize and coordinate events led by the culture committee.
  • Assist with employee relations conversations and documentation.
  • Prepare employee separation notices and conduct exit interviews.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  • Maintain all HR files in electronic and/or physical form.
  • Generate reports and metrics for HR and Finance.
  • Develop and update HR handbook and policies to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and data integrity.
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations.
  • Contribute to the achievement of established department goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of Human Resource experience including employee relations and recruiting experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional multi-tasking, organization, prioritization, and planning skills.
  • Ability to hold confidential and sensitive information with integrity.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to be flexible to meet client group needs and project deadlines.
