The HR Generalist role is crucial for maintaining an effective HR function supporting employees and the Club's goals. This position requires a balance of technical HR knowledge, interpersonal skills, and a proactive approach to managing diverse HR responsibilities. The HR Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, onboarding, recruiting, benefit and leave administration, policy implementation and compliance, HRIT administration, policies, and procedures. Compliance with all federal, state, and local laws is essential. In the area of Employee Relations, the HR Generalist serves as a point of contact for employee concerns and questions, investigates and resolves employee issues, including conflicts, disciplinary actions, and grievances, and promotes positive employee relations through effective communication and problem-solving strategies. The role also involves providing coaching and guidance to managers on performance management issues. Regarding Compliance and Policy Implementation, the HR Generalist ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, keeps current on any changes to applicable laws, and maintains and updates HR policies and procedures. Understanding and compliance with Club policies is also a key responsibility. In terms of Recruiting and Onboarding, the HR Generalist manages recruiting for club positions, working with hiring managers to seek and select the most qualified candidates for open positions. They coordinate and conduct new employee orientation and onboarding activities to ensure a smooth integration into the Club, oversee the process for background checks and clinic visits, and ensure new employees complete necessary employment paperwork and confirm authorization to work (I9 compliance). The HR Administration aspect includes maintaining accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS, managing HR documentation and file management, and supporting the HR Team as needed. The HR Generalist also supports initiatives that promote employee engagement and a positive workplace culture, coordinates and maintains employee recognition programs and events, and fosters an inclusive work environment that values diversity. In Benefit and Leave Administration, the HR Generalist administers the club's employee benefits programs, including health insurance, dental and vision plans, retirement plans, wellness programs, and other fringe benefits. They also administer leave of absence programs, including FMLA, short and long-term disability, parental leave, personal leave, workers compensation, and other club-specific leave policies. Ensuring compliance and reporting is also a critical function, where the HR Generalist ensures all benefits and leave programs comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and maintains current knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in benefits and leave administration.
