About the position

The HR Generalist at Tagawa Gardens is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day human resource functions within the organization. This full-time, hourly, non-exempt position requires flexibility in hours, particularly during peak seasons from March to June, where the workload can increase to 40-50+ hours per week. The HR Generalist will oversee 1-2 HR Assistants to ensure coverage of HR operations seven days a week. The role encompasses a variety of essential functions including workforce planning, training, recruiting, reporting, compliance, safety, and employee relations. The HR Generalist will assess staffing needs, manage applicant flow, conduct interviews, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Additionally, the position involves maintaining employee records, assisting with payroll, and fostering a positive work environment through effective communication and teamwork. The HR Generalist will also chair the Safety Committee, ensuring a safe workplace for all employees and guests.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day human resource functions at Tagawa Gardens.
  • Supervise 1-2 HR Assistants to provide coverage for the HR department.
  • Assess staffing and recruiting needs and work with HR Assistant(s)/Recruiter to meet seasonal staffing requirements.
  • Source potential candidates using approved recruiting strategies and manage applicant flow.
  • Conduct phone screenings, schedule interviews, and complete onboarding paperwork for new hires.
  • Maintain employee tracking for start and release dates, rewards, and promotions.
  • Compile information for management for weekly labor hours reports.
  • Review and suggest updates to employee handbooks and paperwork to meet legal guidelines.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable HR requirements.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and archive records according to retention standards.
  • Assist with training initiatives and performance improvement needs for staff.
  • Complete necessary paperwork for injury/illness reporting and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Act as the main contact for the Paylocity labor tracking system and assist with payroll-related paperwork.
  • Monitor employee morale and conduct stay & exit interviews to recommend improvements.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and eligible to work in the United States.
  • Minimum of 2 years' combined experience in Human Resources, HRIS, Payroll Administration, Safety/Compliance, or Staffing/Recruiting.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent education is required; Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Must maintain a positive and professional work atmosphere and communicate respectfully with all stakeholders.
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Office, Apple iOS, and Adobe PDF are required; experience with Paylocity is preferred.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 25lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60lbs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency or some language competence in Spanish is preferred.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP or related certification is preferred.
