About the position

If you have a passion for improvement and want to contribute to a new API, we invite you to consider our HR Generalist position. This role is pivotal in providing operational, staffing, and development support for the HR Operations Managers at our Racine, WI facility. The HR Generalist will play a crucial role in recruiting and retaining talent for all plant hourly positions, as well as leading employee training and development activities. This includes the coordination, creation, and delivery of training programs. Engaging with our employees to understand their needs and continuously improve employee relations is essential, as we strive to make API Heat Transfer the employer of choice in our community.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in recruiting and retention efforts for all plant hourly positions.
  • Lead employee training and development activities, including coordination, creation, and delivery of training.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the training and development plan for hourly associates.
  • Partner with plant leadership and subject matter experts to support communication and development of competencies.
  • Manage the hourly hiring efforts, including interviewing and extending offers.
  • Lead onboarding processes to ensure smooth acclimation to the organization.
  • Conduct orientation training on EHS and standard company policies and procedures.
  • Regularly check in with associates to ensure their needs are met and concerns are addressed.
  • Partner with HR Manager to resolve personnel concerns by conducting investigations and documenting findings.
  • Facilitate offboarding of team members, including conducting exit interviews.
  • Manage disciplinary processes in conjunction with supervisors and HR Managers.
  • Update policies and the employee handbook.
  • Participate and guide the Employee Engagement Committee to improve culture and create community.

Requirements

  • At least three years of related experience in human resources or a similar field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience interacting and building credibility with all levels of the organization, from production associates to senior leaders.
  • Collaborative approach and comfortable leading without authority.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Flexibility to adapt as the company and processes grow.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with HR management systems.
