This position is responsible for coordinating the daily functions of the Human Resources Team. The Human Resources Generalist will assist and observe in various training programs to comply with McLane Company training practices and federal laws. This includes facilitating mandatory harassment and substance abuse training, safety training, and arranging special classes for teammates. The role also involves maintaining records related to logo clothing, relocation billing, FMLA, Workers Compensation, and safety investigations, along with documentation, reporting, and evacuation plans. Additionally, the HR Generalist will coordinate special events such as CMN, United Way, Health Fair, and teammate parties, while providing support to the HR Manager as needed. The HR Generalist ensures that the McLane Company employment process is carried out within legal guidelines, treating each applicant fairly and consistently. This includes managing requisitions, developing appropriate recruitment strategies with managers, coordinating and attending career fairs, reviewing and screening applications and resumes, communicating application status to applicants, checking references, and verifying previous employment. The role also involves advising supervisors on hiring and offer procedures, arranging pre-employment paperwork and orientation, and maintaining the Jobs Box. Promoting teammate morale through open lines of communication and policy interpretation is also a key responsibility. The HR Generalist will coordinate teammate meetings, assist in the facilitation of New Hire Orientation, and interact daily with teammates and managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in Human Resources is required.
  • Hands-on experience in training and coaching is necessary.
  • Understanding of safety practice guidelines is essential.
  • Strong MS Office skills including Word and Excel are required; PowerPoint will be useful.
  • PeopleSoft experience is preferred.
  • Ability to identify and work through problems and conflicting issues in a clear and diplomatic manner is necessary.
  • Ability to review and interpret data, transactions, policies, and business practices is required.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) with teammates at all levels are essential.
  • Ability to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment is necessary.
