About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Ford Ice Center plays a crucial role in managing employee relations and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Human Resources and is responsible for a variety of HR functions that support the overall mission of the organization. The HR Generalist will identify potential employment-related issues and conduct thorough investigations as necessary, addressing concerns such as attendance, payroll discrepancies, work-related injuries, and conflicts of interest. The role also involves administering corrective actions and processing terminations, which includes completing necessary paperwork and maintaining accurate employee records within the HRIS system. In addition to employee relations, the HR Generalist will manage employee files, including personnel, benefits, I-9, and workers' compensation documentation, ensuring timely routing to Bridgestone Arena. Educating staff about benefits and responding to inquiries is a key responsibility, as is tracking and managing training for all employees, including mandatory safety and policy training. The HR Generalist will also oversee the workers' compensation process, assist with performance management and review processes, and facilitate the 401k enrollment for employees. The position requires collaboration with various departments, including legal counsel, to manage ADA accommodations and process employment verifications. The HR Generalist will support the recruiting process by conducting background checks, updating job postings, and assisting with new hire orientations. Regular attendance at staff meetings and other management discussions is expected, along with the performance of additional duties as assigned by management.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential employment-related issues and inform the Sr. Director of Human Resources.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into employee-related issues.
  • Administer corrective actions and process terminations for staff.
  • Record and maintain employee incidents and compensation adjustments in the HRIS system.
  • Maintain all employee files, ensuring timely routing of paperwork to Bridgestone Arena.
  • Educate staff regarding benefits and respond to inquiries about claims and network access.
  • Track and manage all training for staff, ensuring completion and documentation.
  • Manage the workers' compensation process, including reporting and filing claims.
  • Assist HR with annual performance management and review processes.
  • Educate staff about the Company's 401k retirement plan and facilitate enrollment.
  • Process verifications of employment for employees in a timely manner.
  • Support the recruiting process, including background checks and new hire orientations.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings with management and HR/legal teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, concentration in Human Resources preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Human Resources.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Access).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based payroll/HR software is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work with sensitive data confidentially.
  • Valid driver's license with a suitable driving history.

Nice-to-haves
