About the position

The HR Generalist at Latham, The Pool Company, is responsible for managing all human resources functions at the Rockingham, NC facility. This role involves collaborating with the HR Manager to ensure efficient execution of HR tasks, fostering a positive workplace culture, and driving employee engagement. The HR Generalist will lead initiatives related to employee relations, compensation, recruitment, and retention, while also participating in HR projects and process improvements across the company.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain employee files in compliance with legal/regulatory requirements.
  • Keep employee records up to date by processing employee status changes in ADP and E-Time.
  • Maintain I-9 files according to federal regulations and conduct regular I-9 audits.
  • Lead recruiting for all positions at the location, including internal job postings, external advertising, job fairs, and open houses.
  • Review pre-hire documentation to ensure compliance with company requirements.
  • Conduct New Hire Orientations and hire temporary employees.
  • Partner with Corporate Payroll & Benefits Manager to inform employees on insurance enrollment deadlines and oversee weekly payroll approvals.
  • Manage all payroll-related issues including pay shortages, overpayments, and garnishments.
  • Process all pay increases and partner with Plant Manager to administer the wage matrix.
  • Coordinate performance review process and assist managers with the process.
  • Partner with Plant Management to issue and track attendance and discipline.
  • Conduct investigations and document appropriately, recommending course of action.
  • Support and advise managers on disciplinary issues, terminations, and layoffs.
  • Complete unemployment documentation and attend hearings as needed.
  • Help organize company activities and employee engagement functions.
  • Review and ensure compliance with Federal and State Law, along with company policies and procedures.
  • Coach and train supervisors and managers on policies and procedures along with federal and state laws.
  • Administer and manage FMLA claims and other types of leaves.
  • Update all legal postings and plant communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience; relevant experience and HR-related training may substitute for degree requirement.
  • HR Certification and Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • Public company experience is a plus.
  • Previous manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, regulations, and concepts.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain high ethical standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach to work with creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to develop strong working relationships with employees and leaders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including training capabilities in small and large groups.
  • Proficiency in various computer software applications, such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
