About the position

As a Human Resources Generalist at Performance Food Group, you will play a crucial role in supporting the staffing and development of qualified personnel while ensuring compliance with government regulations and corporate policies. This position is integral to the site management team, functioning as a collaborative member within the HR department and the broader organization. You will be responsible for a variety of HR functions, including recruiting, screening, interviewing, and hiring prospective candidates. Your efforts will contribute to maintaining a safe and inclusive working environment that fosters a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect. In this role, you will manage the cost-effectiveness and methods of recruiting, ensuring that all new hires complete necessary pre-employment drug tests and physicals. You will also oversee new hire orientations, covering essential topics such as benefits, company policies, and procedures. Additionally, you will facilitate associate relations issues in the absence of the Director of HR, gathering necessary information and collaborating with relevant parties to find solutions. Keeping the Director of HR informed of all situations will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will assist in creating, implementing, maintaining, and updating human resources policies and procedures, ensuring that associates are well-informed about their benefits and encouraging timely elections. Your role will also involve maintaining the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) database, ensuring fair pay practices, and creating and maintaining job descriptions for all positions. Legal compliance of associate personnel files and the HRIS database will be a priority, along with providing necessary reports and logs during annual HR reviews. Overall, your contributions will be vital in supporting the company's mission to deliver quality food distribution while fostering a positive workplace culture.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with recruiting, screening, interviewing, and hiring prospective candidates.

  • Ensure all new hires complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and physical, as required.
  • Manage new hire orientations, including benefits, policies, and company history.
  • Facilitate associate relation issues during the absence of the Director of HR.
  • Gather necessary information and discuss with appropriate parties to find solutions.
  • Keep the Director of HR informed of all situations.
  • Assist with creating, implementing, maintaining, and updating human resources policies and procedures.
  • Provide benefit information to associates and encourage timely benefit elections.
  • Ensure necessary information is input into the HRIS in a timely manner.
  • Ensure fair pay practices for all associates.
  • Assist with creating and maintaining job descriptions for all positions.
  • Maintain legal compliance of associate personnel files and HRIS database.
  • Attend training as required and necessary.
  • Provide ad hoc reports as requested.
  • Help maintain accurate information regarding annual HR reviews.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • 4-6 years of Human Resources generalist experience, with three (3) years in recruiting and hiring exempt and non-exempt associates.
  • Current and thorough knowledge of employment law.
