CareStar, Inc. is currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist. The Human Resources Generalist will plan, develop, and implement a variety of Human Resource strategies and programs (or initiatives) to support the accomplishment of goals and objectives, foster an environment promoting organizational communication and understanding, interact with managers, supervisors, and employees on a daily basis to ensure Human Resources solutions are implemented and results are achieved. CareStar is looking for a motivated individual who adheres to the CareStar Rule in performance of job responsibilities, understands and complies with CareStar's Policies and Procedures, and maintains confidentiality as related to patient information. The Human Resources Generalist will serve as a resource to supervisors to interpret and explain policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations and make recommendations; serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policies, and helping resolve work-related problems. The role includes directing the administration of benefit programs, managing the recruitment process, overseeing Workers' Compensation and unemployment claims, and maintaining knowledge of existing and proposed federal and state laws/regulations affecting Human Resources management. The Generalist will also investigate and manage grievances and complaints, administer the performance management system, and oversee the CareStar job description process. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong critical thinking skills and excellent communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement Human Resource strategies and programs to support organizational goals.
  • Interact with managers, supervisors, and employees daily to ensure HR solutions are implemented effectively.
  • Serve as a resource to supervisors for interpreting and explaining policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
  • Direct the administration of benefit programs and oversee annual renewals.
  • Manage the recruitment process, including applicant pipeline, candidate evaluation, onboarding, and orientation.
  • Handle Workers' Compensation and unemployment claims, serving as the primary contact with TPA's.
  • Maintain knowledge of federal and state laws affecting HR management and advise management accordingly.
  • Investigate and manage grievances and complaints, mediating workplace disputes and providing recommendations for resolution.
  • Administer the performance management system and disciplinary procedures, ensuring compliance with performance evaluations.
  • Plan and coordinate personnel and supervisor training activities.
  • Manage Family and Medical Leave Act and Americans with Disabilities Act events, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Oversee the job description process, including generation, review, evaluation, and compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years of previous experience in Human Resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • aPHR or PHR preferred, or commitment to obtaining one of these credentials soon after hire.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal employment law, including Fair Labor Standards Act and Family and Medical Leave Act.
  • Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with payroll systems and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Valid driver's license and car insurance as required by State law.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Long-Term Care Case Management or related fields.
  • Familiarity with innovative software development solutions in HR.
