About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Canvas Inc. plays a crucial role in supporting the HR team and the overall workforce by ensuring compliance with employment laws, managing employee benefits, and facilitating onboarding processes. This position is designed for a mid-level professional who thrives in a team environment and is dedicated to enhancing the employee experience at Canvas, Inc.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintain employee data in various filing systems and using organizational tools.
  • Assist with benefits administration activities including health, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
  • Coordinate with third-party administrators and carriers for employee benefits.
  • Research, negotiate, and implement cost-effective employee benefits plans.
  • Assist with the Open Enrollment process utilizing Deltek Employee Self Service module.
  • Communicate benefit information to employees and assist with claims issues.
  • Conduct new employee orientation including Benefits, Timekeeping, and Company Policies/Procedures.
  • Support onboarding activities including I-9, E-Verify, and employee file creation.
  • Track and administer the tuition reimbursement program.
  • Assist with annual events such as performance reviews and engagement activities.
  • Develop process improvements for HR policies and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field.
  • Minimum three years of human resources experience.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills with proven ability to prioritize complex issues.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision on projects.
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated project management and analytical skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
  • HR Generalist certification.
  • Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to employment.
  • Knowledge of HRIS software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Costpoint People Module, and Deltek.
