About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) plays a vital role in supporting various human resources activities, including full-cycle recruiting, benefits administration, and employee relations. This position is designed for individuals who are motivated to contribute to the community and help create brighter futures for students and families. The HR Generalist will provide confidential and technical support to assigned divisions, advise administrators on HR practices, and ensure compliance with regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate recruitment efforts for all exempt and nonexempt personnel, students, and temporary employees within assigned division.
  • Manage the new employee sign-up process, including benefits review and paperwork.
  • Collect and verify background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  • Facilitate ADA interactive discussions with employees requesting accommodations.
  • Assist in the benefit administration process, including leave of absence administration.
  • Administer compensation, benefits, and leave administration programs, including compiling reports and calculations.
  • Assist with special projects and certifications related to human resources and organizational goals.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Ensure compliance with employment, benefits, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Assist with disputes and investigations regarding employee/labor relations.
  • Assist in the review, testing, and implementation of HRMS system upgrades and patches.
  • Evaluate reports, decisions, and results of the department in relation to established goals.
  • Maintain HRIS records and compile reports using ADP-R.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or related field required.
  • 1-3 years of work-related or internship experience in human resources required.
  • 3-5 years of direct human resources experience preferred.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred.
  • Current police, child abuse, and FBI clearances required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong understanding of HR processes and data, eligibility and enrollment rules, and benefit procedures.
  • Knowledge of Title IX regulations and related policies in compliance with IDEA, Section 504, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Experience with HRMS database design, structure, functions, and processes.
