About the position

SVG Solutions is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Chicago, IL. This role is pivotal in developing the Human Resources function and processes within our organization. The Human Resources Generalist will collaborate closely with the Director of Human Resources and the Executive Director to ensure that all policies, procedures, and practices are effectively implemented to support a successful Human Resources Department. The individual in this position will be responsible for creating and executing a human resources program that aligns with the company's goals and objectives. This includes working alongside the leadership team, department managers, and employees to ensure that all HR policies and practices are in place and functioning optimally. The Human Resources Generalist will play a key role in developing new human resources programs and reviewing existing policies and procedures to ensure they meet the needs of the organization. This position will also involve implementing recruitment strategies, making hiring decisions, managing employee relations issues, and overseeing compensation decisions. Additionally, the Generalist will be responsible for recording time and hours, managing insurance coverage, and conducting performance appraisals for all employees. The role includes overseeing the time card system for HR staff as needed and maintaining employee records by providing training to staff and updating records as necessary. Other duties may be assigned as required to support the HR function effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Developing new human resources programs and reviewing and implementing new human resources policies and procedures
  • Implementing recruitment, hiring decisions, and termination of employment
  • Managing employee relations issues and compensation decisions
  • Recording time & hours and overseeing time insurance coverage
  • Conducting performance appraisals for all employees
  • Overseeing the time card system for HR staff as needed
  • Maintaining employee records by providing training to staff and updating records as needed
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • One to two years related experience preferred
  • Previous HR experience preferred, but willing to train the right person
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build rapport with staff
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
