About the position

Aludyne is recognized as the #1 aluminum knuckle manufacturer in the world, with over 30 strategically located facilities globally. The Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in providing effective human resource services to the plant's hourly workforce. This position is primarily based in Benton Harbor, Michigan, with occasional work in nearby Stevensville. The HR Generalist is responsible for maintaining staffing levels, managing employee separations, addressing inappropriate employee behavior, and fostering positive relations in a union-free environment. The role also involves promoting a positive image of the plant to governmental agencies, prospective candidates, and the public. The HR Generalist will engage in recruiting and hiring processes for both internal and external candidates to fill vacant positions. This includes interviewing candidates, hiring, and orienting selected individuals while ensuring all related paperwork is completed. The position requires monitoring departmental staffing to maintain a balance between operational needs and budgeted headcount. Effective employee communication, event organization, and maintaining staffing rosters for recruiting and labor budget management are also key responsibilities. The HR Generalist will collect and manage data regarding staffing transfers, vacancies, and labor budget adjustments, utilizing HR software and Excel for staffing databases and spreadsheets. Continuous improvement in HR practices and policies is expected, along with processing payroll for the hourly workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and hire for internal & external candidate solicitations to fill vacant positions
  • Interview employment candidates
  • Hire and orient selected candidates, including compilation of related paperwork
  • Monitor departmental staffing, maintain balance between operational needs & budgeted headcount
  • Manage employee communications, postings, functions & events
  • Maintain staffing rosters for recruiting & labor budget management purposes
  • Collect manual & electronic data about staffing transfers, vacancies, labor budget adjustments, & overall workforce status
  • Manipulate HR software and Excel staffing databases/spreadsheets
  • Seek continuous improvement in standard HR practices & procedures, overall employment practices, policies & other related areas
  • Process payroll for hourly workforce

Requirements

  • 2+ years HR generalist experience
  • 2+ years Recruiting hourly employees within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to be creative regarding recruiting
  • Knowledge of labor & employment law, especially Michigan
  • Experience with PC/HRIS applications; MS Office Suite, Paylocity or similar is a plus
  • General business acumen

Nice-to-haves
