About the position

Donegal Insurance Group is seeking an entry-level Human Resources Generalist to join our corporate office in Marietta, PA. This position is essential for the effective execution of various human resources functions, including talent development, talent acquisition and selection, employee engagement, performance management, organizational development, employee relations, and compensation. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, enabling them to interact effectively with employees at all levels. They should be capable of making sound business decisions, managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrating flexibility to adapt to changing priorities as needed. In this role, the Human Resources Generalist will work closely with assigned client groups and the management team to assess staffing needs and develop a comprehensive recruiting plan to support various departments. Responsibilities include preparing and placing advertisements to attract candidates, utilizing our applicant tracking system, and ensuring that the organization meets its immediate and long-term staffing requirements. The Generalist will also analyze trends and metrics in collaboration with the HR team to create effective solutions, programs, and policies. The position requires frequent use of our HRIS system for information management, reporting, and updates. The Generalist will partner with management to provide HR guidance, enhance work relationships, boost morale, and improve employee retention. They will handle employee relations matters, conduct investigations, and recommend solutions. Additionally, the Generalist will provide performance management guidance, assist with the I-9 program and E-Verify requirements, and ensure compliance with company policies and directives.

Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with assigned client groups and the management team to evaluate staffing issues and develop a recruiting plan to support the various departments.
  • Prepare and place advertising to support recruitment plan and frequently use the applicant tracking system.
  • Recruit the best talent available to ensure immediate and long-term staffing needs of the organization are achieved.
  • Develop terms for new hires, promotions, and transfers.
  • Analyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Frequent use of the HRIS system to look up information, add and/or update information, and run reports as needed.
  • Partner with management to provide HR guidance, improve work relationships, build morale, and increase retention.
  • Handle employee relations within assigned client group; conduct investigations and suggest solutions.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance within assigned client group (i.e. coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, and exit interviews).
  • Maintain and/or assist with the company's I-9 program and/or E-Verify requirements and partner with Donegal's legal department on immigration matters requiring HR involvement.
  • Comply with policies and directives outlined in the company handbook and department manuals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Entry level experience in Human Resources with an emphasis on employee relations, onboarding, talent acquisition, and compensation.
