About the position

We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to support the daily functions of the HR department, including employee relations, training and development, staffing and recruitment, payroll, benefits and compensation, and enforcing company policies. This role is essential in developing and maintaining strong working relationships with both internal and external customers, ensuring that service meets or exceeds expectations. The position is on-site at our Headquarters in Oak Creek, WI, and reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct new hire orientation, ethics and harassment training, and exit/retention interviews.
  • Administer and execute human resource programs including payroll, benefits and compensation, performance and talent management, and employee rewards/recognition.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex matters to appropriate staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law.
  • Assist with staffing and recruiting, including interviews and hiring of qualified job applicants.
  • Recruit qualified students for internship and part-time roles, maintaining relationships with universities to attract diverse talent.
  • Conduct background checks, references, and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Assist with the company's DOT/FAA drug and alcohol testing program and vision testing requirements.
  • Perform routine office-management support functions including front desk/phone coverage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience in a professional human resources role in a technical and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player or independently with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • Must be able to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • SHRM-CP, SPHR, or PHR certification.
