About the position

As a Human Resources Generalist at Shearer's, you will play a crucial role in supporting the HR functions at our Waterford Plant. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of HR activities, including onboarding, payroll management, employee engagement and development, employee relations, benefits support, and compliance with administrative regulations such as FMLA, ADA, and FLSA. You will be instrumental in fostering a positive and engaged workplace culture through proactive interactions with our hourly workforce, ensuring that all company policies and practices are effectively communicated, interpreted, and enforced at the site level. In this role, you will work closely with a diverse workforce, assisting in the translation of both spoken and written communications to ensure clarity and understanding among all employees. You will manage headcount and collaborate with Talent Acquisition to meet the staffing needs of the business. Additionally, you will partner with Operations Leaders to create and implement effective onboarding and training programs for new hires, while also leading initiatives focused on employee retention, rewards, and recognition. Your expertise will be vital in counseling line management and associates on the application of company policies, procedures, and relevant employment laws. You will oversee the administrative processes related to data management, including new hire setups, compensation and benefits administration, and leave of absence management. Ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements will be a key aspect of your role, as you work to uphold the integrity of our human resources practices.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out responsibilities in onboarding, payroll, associate engagement and development, employee relations, benefits support and communications, compensation administration, and administrative compliance.
  • Drive an actively engaged culture through positive interactions with the hourly workforce.
  • Communicate, interpret, and enforce all company policies and practices applicable to the site.
  • Work with a diverse workforce and assist in translation of both spoken word and documentation.
  • Manage headcount and partner with Talent Acquisition to support the needs of the business.
  • Work with Operations Leaders to develop effective new hire onboarding and training programs.
  • Lead Retention, Rewards and Recognition Employee Involvement Teams.
  • Counsel line management and associates in the application of company policies, procedures, processes, employee issues, and federal and state employment law.
  • Oversee administrative processes around data management including new hire setup and associate information management, compensation and benefits administration, leave of absence management, and other similar requirements.
  • Assure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements such as FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, a business-related field, or equivalent work experience is required.
  • SHRM or HRCI certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years Human Resources work experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of employees and management fluently.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including knowledge of EEO, ADA, and FMLA.
  • Strong drive for results to lead and facilitate efforts to ensure human resources alignment with the company and/or site.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, preferably ADP.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal directly with line management and hourly workforce to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively, and foster culture change.
  • Strong project management and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities.
  • Ability to lead with empathy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
