About the position

At Select Specialty Hospitals, a division of Select Medical, we care for chronically and critically ill or post-ICU patients who require extended hospital care. As a Human Resources Coordinator (HRC), you will play a vital role in managing all aspects of the Human Resources department in coordination with the regional Human Resources Director and the corporate Human Resources team. This position is essential in ensuring that our employees are supported and equipped to deliver the highest quality care to the patients we serve. You will be part of a dedicated team of HR professionals, where your education and skills will be utilized to make a real impact as a strategic partner in our mission to provide exceptional patient care experiences. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and updating employee files, preparing and maintaining new hire packets, and ensuring the accurate and timely completion of the new hire process. You will also prepare employment status reports for payroll, HR, and compliance purposes, process and maintain all workers' compensation claims, unemployment requests, FMLA, and leaves of absence. Your responsibilities will include providing services such as applicant sourcing, recruiting, and employee orientation, as well as establishing employee relations and helping to maintain a culture of excellence within the organization. Additionally, you will be tasked with weekly payroll processing, maintaining compliance for all regulatory bodies, and implementing strategies to keep employees safe. You will also strategically plan and handle recruitment and retention functions, ensuring that Select Medical continues to attract and retain top talent in the healthcare industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Human Resources department in coordination with the regional Human Resources Director and corporate HR team.
  • Maintain and update employee files including HR, Employee Health, Agency, and Contract Services.
  • Prepare and maintain employee new hire packets and ensure accurate and timely completion of the new hire process.
  • Prepare employment status reports for payroll, HR, and compliance purposes.
  • Process and maintain all workers' compensation claims, unemployment requests, FMLA, and leaves of absences.
  • Provide services that include applicant sourcing, recruiting, and employee orientation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in HR, Business, or related field required (commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of the degree with Corporate HR approval).
  • 2 years of Human Resources experience required.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish, both reading and writing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous HR experience in a healthcare facility with exposure to Joint Commission and CMS preferred.
  • Familiarity with benefit administration, basic HR and Employee Relations functions, payroll administration, and state and federal employment laws.
