About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at Spectrum is responsible for administering HR policies and programs while balancing employee advocacy with business needs. This role involves promoting equity and positive employee relations, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and providing comprehensive HR support to designated client groups. Key functions include recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and training, all aimed at enhancing organizational effectiveness and supporting business priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Administer human resources policies and programs.
  • Promote equity, fair treatment, and positive employee relations.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws.
  • Provide HR support in recruitment and retention of talent.
  • Conduct performance coaching and management.
  • Identify and resolve HR-related issues proactively.
  • Build relationships with business leaders for better decision-making.
  • Communicate and execute changes to policies and procedures effectively.
  • Perform employee relations functions including counseling and dispute resolution.
  • Conduct employee-related investigations as necessary.
  • Handle workers compensation and safety regulations processes.
  • Coordinate Leave of Absence programs and processes.
  • Conduct health and welfare benefits open enrollment meetings.
  • Provide training for employees and supervisors on policies and procedures.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entries to the HRIS database.
  • Perform audit and compliance functions as requested.
  • Maintain employee records in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Participate in HR committees to resolve employment challenges.
  • Assist in managing bonus plans and merit processes.
  • Assist in the annual budget planning process.
  • Recruit and staff from internal and external sources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of Human Resources Generalist experience.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal employment laws and procedures.
  • Knowledge of staffing and employment practices.
  • Analytical skills and consultative coaching skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
  • Certifications for Human Resource Professionals (PHR, SPHR) preferred.
