About the position

The Hollister Group, a leading women-owned staffing firm in the Boston area, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our Administrative & HR Staffing team. This position is designed for candidates who are looking for hybrid roles based in Boston and will involve a variety of responsibilities that support our clients and candidates alike. As a Human Resources Generalist, you will serve as a reliable point of contact for employee relations, HR policies, and benefits, ensuring that all inquiries are addressed promptly and effectively. You will lead HR and benefits orientation for new hires, process background checks, and manage the necessary paperwork for onboarding. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate digital and physical personnel files, assisting with key personnel activities such as recruitment, training, grievances, and performance evaluations. You will coordinate various HR projects, including meetings, training sessions, and surveys, while providing essential employee data related to hours, time off, compensation, and bonuses to assist with payroll processing. Additionally, you will review and suggest improvements to company HR policies and documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Handling sensitive employee information with discretion is paramount, and you will communicate with vendors and external parties regarding HR systems and benefits-related topics as needed. This position requires a strong understanding of HR policies and procedures, as well as the ability to build and maintain strong relationships within the organization. Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain accurate digital and physical chart and personnel files
  • Assist with key personnel activities including recruitment, training, grievances, and performance evaluations

  • Provide employee data regarding hours, time off, compensation, and bonuses to assist with payroll
  • Review and make suggestions to improve company HR policies and documentation
  • Handle sensitive employee information with a balanced approach and a high degree of discretion

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required
  • Master's degree and/or SHRM-CP is a plus
  • 4-6 years of experience in an HR Generalist role with exposure to performance management and benefits administration
  • Demonstrated understanding of standard HR policies & procedures
  • Understanding of relevant Federal, State, and local employment/labor laws
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR information systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and trust
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations and confidential information tactfully and appropriately
  • Highly organized and service-oriented team player
