About the position

The Human Resources Generalist at TG Minto is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of Human Resources services, including recruiting, staffing, workflow management, employee services, and employee relations. This role is crucial in ensuring compliance with all legal and corporate guidelines, and it will be supported by the HR staff from TGMO. The HR Generalist will play a key role in fostering a positive work environment and enhancing employee morale through various activities and initiatives. In this position, the HR Generalist will conduct interviews and select applicants that best match the skills required for job openings. They will also engage in employee relation activities, planning for workforce management, and morale-boosting activities. The role involves developing and coaching supervisors and managers on HR-related issues, ensuring that all practices align with federal and state regulations such as ADA, FMLA, and COBRA. Additionally, the HR Generalist will maintain the affirmative action program, file the EEO-1 report annually, and keep other records to comply with EEO regulations. The HR Generalist will participate in developing departmental goals and objectives, conduct recruitment efforts for various personnel levels, and manage new employee orientations. They will handle employee relations counseling, conduct exit interviews, and participate in administrative staff meetings. The role also includes recommending new approaches and policies to improve departmental efficiency and maintaining HR information system records while compiling necessary reports. Furthermore, the HR Generalist will assist in salary surveys, update wage and salary schedules, and investigate employee grievances. This position requires a proactive approach to developing job descriptions in collaboration with different departments and preparing necessary documentation. The HR Generalist will also assist with special projects, manage petty cash accounts, and maintain good corporate citizenship through participation in community events and company-sponsored activities.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews and selects applicants to match skill of the job opening.
  • Conducts employee relation activities and plans morale-boosting activities for employees.
  • Develops and coaches supervisors/managers on Human Resources related issues.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations (ADA, FMLA, COBRA, etc.).
  • Develops and maintains affirmative action program; files EEO-1 report annually.
  • Conducts recruitment efforts for all exempt, non-exempt personnel, students, and temporary employees.
  • Conducts new employee orientations and monitors career pathing program.
  • Handles employee relations counseling and exit interviews.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve departmental efficiency.
  • Maintains Human Resources information system records and compiles reports from the database.
  • Participates in salary surveys and assists in updating wage and salary schedules.
  • Investigates and resolves employee grievances and coordinates processes responding to employee complaints.
  • Coordinates with departments to develop job descriptions for all positions within the company.
  • Prepares correspondence, spreadsheets, and other documents as needed.
  • Trains all new hires and follows up with them regarding their integration into the company.
  • Assists with payroll distribution and inquiries.
  • Manages security functions including badges and access control in conjunction with TGMO staff.
  • Develops and assists with special projects as needed or assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous HR experience is recommended due to the nature of this position.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Experience with HR Software for onboarding and recruiting preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Nice-to-haves

  • PHR certification recommended, but not required.
